    This is great!
How do I get past the login prompt to do anything? I can’t find what the root password might be anywhere on this site. I’ve tried all the obvious defaults (root/[blank], root/root, admin/admin, etc.), but I can’t really experiment with this because I can’t get past the “DiskStation login” prompt.

It’s your admin password (created by yourself).
      User: root
      Pass: admin password

          Hola,

You first need to install the 1st DSM*.pat file from the download page via the webGUI after you have booted from the corresponding XPEnoboot you’ve put on a stick.

This will take you through an install wizard and lets you create a user. The password you give that user is the same as the root password after you’ve rebooted but normally there is no need to log in via the console, you should be able to do everything via the webGUI.

Then update to the latest version on the download page, update-5.

          Regards,

          Wim

How do I do that? How do I access the webGUI? I can’t do anything after booting from the corresponding XPEnoboot that I put on a stick because booting from the XPEnoboot requires a username and password. It will not accept admin/.

Sorry, if that is a bad question – but it is the first update I am getting with XPenology..
Can I just update it via DSM or do I have to flash the bootloader and install the update in another way?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi.
Im having problems with 5644 cause it crashed my webstation. When im trying to start webstation from dsm or ssh something is deleting /etc/httpd/conf/httpd-ssl.conf file and without it deamon wont start.

Oh, and BIOS was checked and double-checked. Works in the GRUB menu, but stops when logging in. Debug DOES detect when it is removed, however.

Sorry if any of this is a repeat, new here.

    Yeap, me too.
I’m running it on PE R710
    XPEnoboot DS3615xs5.2-5644.5.img

    on the USB stick.
It booted, ran through the process.
    Everything aok.

    Then prompt for login.
and I have no keyboard function.
*****The USB keyboard is plugged in and works just fine, just not able to do anything once at the login prompt

    Anyone know the cause ?

    Having the same issue!
And this is a nasty one because how are you supposed to do anything when your input device is not working?

Well, if you know the IP it got then you can surf to that one and install it from there…
      That worked for me!

You can run your own DHCP server on your PC.
For Windows you can use this program, it’s quite simple: http://tftpd32.jounin.net/
You just need to make sure the IP’s you’ll server are in the same subnet, if you know anything about networking…

Then you can install the Synology and give it a fixed IP (I can’t remember if you can do this during the install or afterwards) and use it like that.

Because I don’t know the logins either at the first boot from the stick. Besides, a USB-keyboard won’t work then. :-/

Do you recommend creating a quickconnect. like the registration to have account with synology?

I think you have to pay for that service…

      Or do some illegal shit!
I don’t know it myself so look it up dude. 😉

You have to do it remotely:
